Required before taking Physical Chemistry (CHEM 311) 1 year of physics:
Either PHYS 201 and 202 (sequence starts in spring, is calculus based, and is preferred for students with strong math skills
or PHYS 103 and 104 (sequence starts in fall and is algebra based)

The Bachelor of Science degree program in Chemistry is approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS).
All chemistry majors are strongly encouraged to do research, either during the academic year or during the summer. Stipends may be available to support summer research. CHEM 250, 350, 370, 420, and 460 are offered on an alternate year schedule. Students should work with their academic advisors in scheduling these courses as well as their physics.
