Billye Jean Beamer '52
Inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame 1972.
- Distinguished herself both as a varsity athlete and as a coach
- Played basketball and field hockey
- In 1950 and ’51, captained women’s basketball teams
- Highest honors came on varsity field hockey teams
- In 1952, selected to the All-State field hockey team
- From 1953-58, she was a member of the Blue Ridge field hockey first-team and the Southeast field hockey first-team - the equivalent of an All-American selection
- Since 1968, she has been recognized as a National Field Hockey Umpire
- In 1969, she was manager of the United States Field Hockey team to Guyana
