Fred Smith '33
Inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame 1971.
- At Roanoke College, he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball
- In football, he received recognition as an All-State guard
- Since 1938, he served as coach and athletic director at William Fleming High School
- his contribution to the athletic program of the community led to his selection as Father of the Year in the Roanoke Valley in 1955
- Given honor of Citizen of the Year in 1958
