Goerge A. Jocher, Jr. '59

Inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame 1972.

  • Member of the Monogram Club
  • Received the Monogram Club award as Athlete of the Year in 1958 and '59
  • Named to the All-State track team as a senior
  • Co-captain of the track and cross country teams in 1958 and '59
  • In cross country, he won six dual meets in 1958 to lead the team to the Virginia AAU, Little Eight and Mason Dixon Championships
  • In 1958, he placed 26th among a field of several hundred cross country men at the NCAA College championship
  • In 1959, he recorded the fastest two mile time in the state
  • His track records were set in the distance events, the 880, mile, two mile and relays
