Hunter Monroe Painter '16

Inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame 1972.

  • Member of the Monogram Club
  • Won letters in three major varsity sports
  • In 1915 and 1916, he played football
  • Was a four-year letterman in basketball
  • A starter on the State Championship team of 1916
  • In 1915, he established a record for most points won by an individual trackman
  • He set records in the high jump, 100 and 220 yard dashes
  • He is still an active member of the Botetourt County athletic booster club, a Master Mason and an elder in the Fincastle Presbyterian Church
