Robert M. McLelland '49
Inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame 1971.
- As Sports Editor of the Roanoke World News, he gave much of his time and effort to working with young people
- For 25 years he coached sandlot football compiling a record of 225 wins, 28 losses
- Received Virginia State and Roanoke Jaycee Physical Fitness Award for contribution to youth athletics
- Won Sport Magazine Award for youth leadership
- Organizer of Western Virginia Chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes
- Was honored as Father of the Year and Citizen of the Year in Roanoke Valley
