RC to Host Two NCAA Games
Women Host Shenandoah Wednesday, Men Maymount on Thursday
SALEM, VA--The Roanoke College basketball program will host two NCAA Division III first round games this week. The Roanoke women’s basketball team will host Shenandoah University on Wednesday night, while the RC men will entertain Marymount University on Thursday evening. Both game times are time pending, but most likely will tip-off at 7:00 pm in the C. Homer Bast Center in Salem, VA. Both the Roanoke College men and women received automatic bids to thee NCAA tournament after winning the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships last week. The women head into national postseason action with a 21-6 record and fresh off of a win over Emory & Henry on Saturday afternoon. The Roanoke College men, after an ‘upset’ of top ranked Hampden-Sydney last Monday night, head into the NCAA first round with 23-4 overall record.
The women’s first round opponent, Shenandoah, enters the NCAA tournament with a record of 18-8 and received an automatic bid after defeating Methodist to win the Dixie Conference championship. Marymount, the men’s foe on Thursday, won the Capital Athletic Conference with a win over Goucher. The Saints are 16-11 heading into the national postseason, which is their first ever.
