Godbout Named to All-Region Team
RC Goalie Posted 0.66 GAA and .898 Save Percentage
SALEM, VA--Roanoke College junior goaltender Jodi Godbout (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-South Region squad. Godbout, who is the second Maroon in as many years to earn the honors, helped the Maroons to an 11-6 overall record during the 2000 season. In 17 games, all of which she started, Godbout allowed just 11 goals while stopping 97 opposition shots. She was a key factor in Roanoke tying an Old Dominion Athletic Conference record for fewest goals allowed in one season (12). Godbout led the conference in both goals against average (0.66) and save percentage (.898). She posted eight-and-a-half shutouts on the season, and recorded all of RC’s 11 wins. After Godbout, the league’s next ‘best’ goaltender allowed 1.19 goals a game and stopped 84.3 percent of the shots.
With her selection to the Regional team, Godbout advances to the national ballot, where she looks to become the first RC goaltender to earn All-American honors. Last week, Godbout earned her second consecutive All-ODAC First Team honor.
