Fountain Helps RC to Ninth Place Finish
Maroons Shoot Two-Day 633 at Tom O'Briant Memorial

GREENSBORO, NC--The Roanoke College golf team placed ninth out of 17 teams at the Tom O’Briant Memorial hosted by Guilford College on Monday and Tuesday. The Maroons shot a combined 633 at the two-day event, just nine strokes out of second place. Duke University was the team winner, firing a 596.

Geoff Fountain was the top finisher for the Maroons, posting a 153 on the par 70 course. After shooting an 80 on Monday, Fountain rebounded to card a 73 on Tuesday, one of the day’s top performances. Overall, Fountain finished 11th. David Riley was consistent for RC, recording a 79 on Monday and a 77 on Tuesday for a total of 156.
