Leftwich and Hollett Earn ODAC Honor

Both Get Athlete of the Week Awards

SALEM, VA--Roanoke College seniors Colby Leftwich (Roanoke, VA/Patrick Henry) and Emily Hollett (Roanoke, VA/Northside) have both named Athletes of the Week by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Leftwich earned his first ever honor after leading the men’s basketball team to a perfect 3-0 conference record, while Hollett got the women’s indoor track & field award after winning three events at the Lebanon Valley Invitational.

Leftwich averaged 11.3 points and 8.3 rebound as the men’s basketball team defeated Bridgewater, Randolph-Macon, and Virginia Wesleyan. The senior forward scored a team-high 16 points in the win at Virginia Wesleyan and also added 12 points at Randolph-Macon. In the win over the Yellow Jackets, Leftwich grabbed six rebounds and followed with a nine-rebound performance against Virginia Wesleyan. On the week, he also added eight assists and two steals and shot 68.2 percent from the field.

Hollett won the Long jump, the triple jump, and the high jump, at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational in Annville, PA on Saturday afternoon. The senior from Northside High School had a distance of 16 ‘2.25” in the long jump, and followed with leaps of 4’ 10” in the high jump and 34’ 0.5” in the triple jump to claim the championships in all three events.

The Roanoke College men’s basketball team returns to action on Wednesday with a road game against Eastern Mennonite and then returns home to host Washington & Lee on Saturday. The indoor track & field team heads to Johnson City, TN to participate in the East Tennessee State University Invitational over the weekend.
