Dunleavy Named ODAC Player of the Week

Senior Leads RC to 3-0 Mark, Averages 17.0 A Game

SALEM, VA--Roanoke College senior Brad Dunleavy (Roanoke, VA/William Fleming) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week. Dunleavy led the Maroons to a perfect 3-0 week, posting wins over Hampden-Sydney, Emory & Henry, and Guilford College. The Maroons are now 18-5 on the season and tied for first place in the ODAC standings (13-4) heading into Tuesday regular season finale against Eastern Mennonite University.

Dunleavy opened the week with an 11-point performance in a win over Hampden-Sydney, which at the time of the game was ranked 14th in the country. Five of his 11 points came in the final 5:55 of the contest, including two on a jumper with 42 seconds left to give RC the lead for good.

On Wednesday, Dunleavy scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Maroons to a 78-70 win over visiting Emory & Henry. He also had five rebounds and three assists in the win and hit two jumpers late in the second half to seal the win for the Maroons.

In a 96-71 Roanoke win over Guilford on Saturday, Dunleavy scored 15 first half points and finished with 24 on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. Three of his eight field goals came from behind the three-point arc.

For the week, Dunleavy, who is just seven points shy of becoming the 26th RC player to reach 1,000 career points, averaged 17.0 points and shot 52.9 percent (18-of-34) from the field. He also grabbed 3.7 rebounds a game and totalled six assists and six blocks.
