Pridgen Named ODAC Player of the Week
Maroon Guard Scored 52 Points in Two Games, Hit 10 Threes
SALEM, VA--Roanoke College sophomore guard Robby Pridgen (Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) has been named the men’s basketball Player of the Week by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Pridgen led the 12th-ranked Maroons to the championship of the Salem Bank & Trust Tip-Off Classic this past weekend. In Saturday’s season opening 89-72 win over Moravian (PA) College, Pridgen netted a career-high 27 points. He went 9-of-13 from the field in the win, including a 4-for-7 clip from three-point land. He also added four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. On Sunday, Pridgen, who missed most of the 1999-2000 season with a knee injury, scored 25 points to pace the Maroons past Trinity (TX) University, 73-70. He drained six three-pointers in that win and sparked a Roanoke comeback from a 10-point halftime deficit with five threes in the second half. For the season, Pridgen is averaging 26 points per game, and is shooting 51.4 percent (18-of-35) from the field and 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from three-point land.
The Maroons return to action on Saturday as they play the Savannah College of Art and Design Bees in the first game of the Goucher (MD) College tournament. The game in Baltimore, MD starts at 5:30pm.
