Butler Ties School-Record With Six Three-Pointers in Win

LEXINGTON, VA--Paris Butler (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) tied a school-record, which he already owned a piece of, knocking down six three-pointers in Roanoke's 90-59 win over the Washington & Lee Generals in Lexington. The Maroons, ranked 17th in the nation, are now 10-1 on the season and improve to 5-0 in the ODAC.

The Maroons led by just nine points at the half, but outscored W&L 52-30 in the second frame to come away with the 31-point win. The win was RC's second largest of the season. The RC defense held W&L to just 28.1 percent from the field in the game, including just 21.6 in the second half.

Butler finished with a game-high 20 points in the contest, going 6-for-9 from behind the three-point line and 7-of-11 from the field as a whole. Jason Strickland (Charlottesville, VA/Covenant) added 18 points and seven rebounds, while Brad Dunleavy (Roanoke, VA/William Fleming) had 11 points, three assists, and three steals.

The win was the 1,110th in Roanoke men's basketball history and the 60th all-time against the Generals of W&L. For this game, RC shot 51.6 percent from the field and won the battle of the boards, 46-36.

The Maroons look to run their winning streak to 11 games on Tuesday as they travel to Harrisonburg, VA to play the Royals of Eastern Mennonite at 7:00pm.
