Neil Adam Gets OT Winner
Maroons Escape Florida With 11-10 Win Over Alfred
ORLANDO, FL--Senior midfielder Neil Adam (Murrysville, PA/Franklin) scored with just over 1:30 remaining in the first overtime to give the Roanoke College men’s lacrosse team an 11-10 win over Alfred University in Orlando, FL. The Maroons, who are ranked 14th in the country, improve to 2-0 on the season, also improve to 2-0 all-time against the Saxons. Adam got his second career overtime game-winning goal off of an assist from sophomore attackman Andy Bonasera (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington). Adam scored a goal in the second overtime of a 2000 game over Lynchburg College, propelling the Maroons to a 12-11 win over the Hornets. Bonsera finished the game against Alfred with two goals and two assists. Senior midfielder Ryan Kamerdin (South Salem, NY/John Jay) scored once and handed out three helpers for Roanoke. James Canedy (E. Orleans, MA/Falmouth) and freshman Colin Burke (Ranco Santa Fe, CA/Torrey Pines) each scored twice for the Maroons, as did junior Bryan Daddio (Syosset, NY/Syosset).
The Maroons return to the game field on Wednesday, March 14th against the Red Dragons of Cortland State. The game marks the 2001 home debut for the Maroons and will face-off at 4:00pm on Roanoke’s Alumni Field.
