SALEM, VA--The Roanoke College men’s soccer team is ranked 17th in the country in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) Division III national poll. The Maroons jump three spots from last week’s number-20 ranking after going 2-0 last week with a win over Mary Washington College. In addition to their national rating, the Maroons improved to number-two in the South Region, one spot behind Greensboro and tied with Christopher Newport. Roanoke pitched a couple of shutouts last week, blanking conference foe Emory & Henry, 4-0, and then beating the Eagles of Mary Washington College, 1-0. Mary Washington was the South Region’s fifth ranked team at the time, while RC was third. Roanoke is 6-0 on the season and has won all but one of those games by shutout. For the year, the Maroons are outscoring their opponents, 23-1.
The Maroons travel to Bridgewater College on Wednesday afternoon for a 4:00 pm contest with the Eagles. The game is RC’s lone match of the week.
