Sarah Dingledine Named ODAC Player of the Week
Junior Center Averaged 15 points and Eight Rebounds as RC Went 3-0 Last Week
SALEM, Va.--Roanoke College junior center Sarah Dingledine (Standardsville, VA/William Monroe) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's women's basketball Player of the Week, for her performances in three Maroons victories last week. With Dingledine's help, the Maroons improved to 19-3 overall, 16-1 in conference play, and ran their winning streak to seven games.On Monday, Dingledine scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Maroons defeated Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, 89-57. That was only the second double-double by a Maroon this season. She also added two assists, two blocks, and two steals in the win. She followed that performance with a 12-point, 9-rebound effort in a road win over Eastern Mennonite University, 74-52. On Saturday night, Dingle scored 12 points and hauled in four rebounds, as Roanoke edged past Washington & Lee University. For the week, Dingledine averaged 14.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, and added two assists, four blocks, and four steals. She also shot 54.4 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line. This is the first time Dingledine has been named the conference's Player of the Week, and the first time in two years that a Roanoke women's basketball student-athlete has won the award. Roanoke Returns to action on Tuesday night as it host the Yellowjackets of Randolph-Macon College. The Maroons eneter the game ranked second in the league, trailing only RMC, who occupies the number-one spot.
