Barrett Named to All-Tournament Team

SEWANEE, TN--The Roanoke College women’s basketball team fell to 0-2 on the season after a 63-51 loss to the Maryville (TN) College Scots on Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Sewanee Tip-Off tournament. The loss comes on the heels of a loss to Sewanee on Saturday in the opening round.

Crystal Barrett (Roanoke, VA/Northside) earned All-Tournament honors after scoring 22 points and adding 16 rebounds in Sunday’s loss. Barrett went 9-for-15 from the field on Sunday and grabbed nine offensive rebounds. She also had three steals in the losing effort. Suzanne Webb (Narrows, VA/Narrows) scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. In all, just six players scored for the Maroons.

The Maroons, who turned the ball over 34 times on Saturday, had 32 more on Sunday and shot just 33.9 percent from the field in the Sunday’s loss. RC went into halftime trailing by 11 points, 30-19, and were outscored, 33-32, in the second half.

RC returns to action next Sunday as they travel to Ferrum, VA to play the Panthers of Ferrum College. The game begins at 4:00pm.
