Maroons Shoot Lights Out in Win
RC Beats Randolph-Macon by 20, 74-54, in Ashland

ASHLAND, VA--The Roanoke College women’s basketball team shot 56.6 percent from the field for the game in a 74-54 win over Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons are now 10-3 on the season and 8-2 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Yellow Jackets, who suffer their second loss of the season to RC, are now 7-6, 6-3. The Maroons jumped out to a 10-point (35-25) halftime lead after blistering the nets on 60 percent shooting. RC knocked down 15 of its 25 field goal attempts in the opening half, while limiting RMC to just 33.3 percent. There was little drop off for the Maroons in the second half, as they shot 53.6 percent from the floor, outscoring the Yellow Jackets, 39-29.
Crystal Barrett (Roanoke, VA/Northside) scored a team-high 12 points for the Maroons, all coming in the second half, on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor. Holly Weber (Stuart, VA/Patrick County) missed just one of her six field goal attempts, scored 11 points, while sophomore Jill Quesenberry (Willis, VA/Floyd County) had 10 points. Senior point guard Carrie McConnell (Radford, VA/Pulaski County), who is now the school’s all-time leader in the assist column (441), had nine helpers to go along with nine points.
The Maroons saw their 10-point halftime lead cut to eight points with 14:35 left in the second, but went on a 12-2 run midway through the half to break the game open. The Yellow Jackets to within eight again (62-54), with 3:24 left to go, but did not score again in the contest.
The Maroons host Bridgewater College on Tuesday at the Bast Center in a 7:00 pm contest. This will be RC’s first home game since December 9th.
