Ellie Page Named ODAC Player of the Week
Senior Scored 10 Goals in Maroons' 3-0 Week
SALEM, Va.--Ellie Page (Savannah, GA/Berkshire), a senior on the Roanoke College women’s lacrosse team, has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s women’s lacrosse Player of the Week. In three games last week, Page scored 10 goals and had an assist as the Maroons went 3-0, with all three victories coming over conference opponents. With Page’s contributions, the Maroons improved to 12-3 on the year and secured the number-one seed heading into this weekend’s ODAC tournament. To open the week, Page scored two goals as the Maroons pulled out a hard-fought victory over rival Washington & Lee University. Her goal in the first half gave Roanoke a 2-1 lead. She then scored the first goal of the second half, a tally that tied the game (after the Maroons trailed 3-2 at halftime) and started a Roanoke 3-0 run that led RC to the win.
She then followed with a four-goal, one-assist day in Roanoke’s 16-7 win over Hollins University. She helped Roanoke take the lead just five minutes into the contest, assisting on RC’s first goal. She added two goals in each half in the win. On Saturday, Page helped Roanoke take its sixth all-time undefeated conference record as she scored four times in a 14-6 win over Virginia Wesleyan. One of her four scores, at the 22:46 mark of the second half, proved to be the game-winner. The goal was Page’s first game-winner of the year.
In 14 games this year, Page has scored a career-best 30 goals and has handed out six assists for 36 total points. She also has 35 groundballs and 20 draw controls. In her career at Roanoke, Page has scored 82 goals and assisted on 32 others, totalling 114 points.
Page and her Roanoke teammates head into this weekend’s ODAC tournament as the number-one seed. On Saturday at 12:30 pm, the Maroons will play the winner of the Guilford/Lynchburg game, which is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. The Maroons will be the host of this year’s semifinal and championship games.
