Head Coach Blair Trail
Head Coach
Blair Trail

Blair Trail, formerly Blair Calvert, is in her fourth season as the head coach of the Roanoke volleyball team. Trail, a 1999 graduate of the college, was a standout with the Maroon volleyball program, establishing several school records during her playing days in Salem.

In three seasons as the Roanoke head coach, Trail has transformed the Maroons from a 12-17 squad into a 19-12 team. The Maroons have compiled back-to-back 19 wins seasons, the most wins in a single year for the squad in the past 15 seasons. In that span, only the 1994 squad, which went 17-6, came close to the Maroons’ 19 wins. Also, the Maroons’ eight conference victories during the 2000 season were the most since 1995. In her three-year career at RC, Trail has an overall coaching record of 50-39 and 19-11 in conference play.

In her two seasons in an RC uniform, Trail set several school records, including most kills in one match (24 vs. Randolph-Macon Women’s College) and was named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s First Team All-Star team as a senior. She was the first Maroon named to the league’s first team all-conference squad since 1995.

After transferring from Division I Radford University prior to the 1997 season, Trail racked up 517 kills in her two years at Roanoke. In addition to her recording setting kill performance, Trail also established a school-record when she recorded 28 digs in a match with Ferrum College in 1998.

In addition to her work at the college, Trail has also been an assistant with the Northside HS volleyball team. In addition, Trail was an assistant with the Radford HS squad for a season.

A graduate of North Cross School, where in her senior season she led the team to the state title, Trail has also run a summer volleyball camp at the college in each of the past three summers.

Trail graduated from Roanoke in May of 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and is married to RC assistant Steve Trail.
