Named in memory of Charles Brown, a former mayor of Salem and Roanoke College's first Dean,
this annual award will recognize a Salem citizen for his or her contribution to the quality of life in Salem.

Previous winners include Sonny Tarpley, Dr. N. Wayne Tripp, Harry Haskins and Herman Reavis.
