ADMISSIONS UPDATE

The Office of Admissions has been busy preparing events and opportunities for our accepted students! To start, we are excited to announce the launch of a new website created especially for accepted students. For those interested in taking a peek, go to www.roanoke.edu/accepted. The students have the opportunity to see student profiles, chat on discussion boards and link to all kinds of opportunities available both on and off campus.

Currently, we are traveling up and down the east coast hosting receptions for accepted students from areas ranging as far north as Maine and as far south as Roanoke. The invited high school students and their family have the opportunity to attend an informal reception. At the reception, current students and alumni from their area speak about the “Roanoke College Experience.” In addition, the program concludes with a presentation by a Roanoke Admissions staff member about the finer points of Roanoke College. The receptions are always a huge success with 20 plus students in attendance at each event.

Our Accepted Student Open House is scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 2005 9:30am-2pm. We plan to have over 100 accepted students and their families in attendance for this event. The surprise element each year is the morning news cast performed by Roanoke students highlighting our campus. In addition, here are some other highlights for this event:

  • A tour of our beautiful campus.
  • A mock classroom experience.
  • Discussion with our students on how they balance academics with a variety of activities.
  • A lunch prepared by our award-winning Chef Bob.
  • A chance to watch the RC Maroons battle the Washington & Lee Generals in a men's lacrosse conference rivalry.

We look forward to the participation and assistance that many faculty and staff offer throughout this event. Each year, the evaluations show that over-all campus participation make this event successful.
