6.3 GRANT PROPOSALS
The person seeking grants on behalf of the College should adhere to the following procedures:
a. Faculty are encouraged to seek external funding for research and teaching-related projects. All such proposals and applications must be routed to the office of Academic Grants and Foundation Relations. Faculty may accept salaries for externally funded grants and contracts for work performed outside their regular contracted time.
b. In the determination of the proper foundation or agency to be approached, assistance can be obtained from the Director of Academic Grants and Foundation Relations or the Vice President for Resource Development. The Director of Academic Grants and Foundation Relations serves as liaison for faculty with the office of Resource Development and with external funding agencies.
c. A letter of intent (with administrative signatures of approval) should be filed with the office of Academic Grants and Foundation Relations before a grant proposal is prepared.
d. The signature of the President of the College or the Vice President for Business Affairs should appear on all proposals. Signatures of the department chair, the Director of Academic Grants and Foundation Relations, and the Dean of the College on the Routing Form for External Funding Requests give administrative approval to faculty proposals.
