P. Williams, The Tudor Regime. Introduction, chs. 1-4, 11-14. (A survey of social institutions rather than a narrative.)Biographies of Monarchs:J. Guy, Tudor England. (A good, very up-to-date narrative of political events, if sometimes a bit dense.)
C.S.L. Davies, Peace, Print and Protestantism. (An excellent introduction to the early Tudors.)
R. Ashton, Reformation and Revolutions 1558-1660. (The volume of the series to follow Davies.)
B. Coward, The Stuart Age.
D.M. Palliser, The Age of Elizabeth (Surveys social and economic history.)
