Dr. Selby has a B.A. from the University of Arizona and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Duke University.
| Dr. Selby's teaching fields include the U.S. since the Civil
War, American diplomatic history, the Vietnam War, and the Modern Middle
East. He is known for using historical debates and skits in some of his
classes as lively ways to study course material. His current research is
on the generation of young adults who fought in the American Civil War.
