Charges of the Committee

  1. To become familiar with the importance assigned to an institution's purpose or mission statement and with requirements for its formulation as described in Section II: Institutional Purpose in SACS' 1998 Criteria for Accreditation visit

  2. To review and evaluate the current Statement of Purpose, Institutional Standing Goals, and Curriculum Goals to determine if they offer an accurate, clear, and compelling statement about the education offered to Roanoke students

  3. If determined to be necessary and/or desirable, to make recommendations to the Steering Committee for changes in the Statement of Purpose, Institutional Standing Goals, and Curriculum Goals (ultimately, these changes would require approval by the faculty, administration, and Board of Trustees)

  4. To be willing to meet with the College's SACS liaison officer and the SACS Visiting Team to discuss the College's institutional purpose and the work of the committee
