The meeting began at 12:00 p.m. (on a modified schedule due to the College's delayed schedule).
The faculty members on the council drew lots for length of term. Results:
3-year term: Pysh
2-year term: Cissel
1-year term: Stewart (plus secretary for the remainder of the year)
The Council decided to use this year to set a firm foundation for the future. This semester's activities:
2/14: Review of administrative assessment (Ed) and academic assessment (Greg).
2/21: Refinement of assessment principles at Roanoke College
Thereafter: The Council decided to select three academic departments--one from each division--to fully develop their assessment program and then to serve as models for the other departments. Near the end of the year, the Council will review the assessment materials submitted this year and discuss how to more fully incorporate assessment into the life of the College.
