We consulted with Michael Hakkenberg about the Honors Program's Assessment Plan: how might our Council help Honors and Gen. Educ. in Program Assessment? Possibilities we discussed:
1) help with assessing Honors portfolios;
2) help devise effective mechanisms for assessing Honors' PEP program (perhaps focus groups--e.g., a subset of freshmen selected and followed throughout their 4 years?) (Such a mechanism would need to be implemented by someone outside the Honors Program.)
3) help compose questions to ask at senior exit interviews;
4) help compose alumni surveys;
5) help design effective course-embedded mechanisms.
For our next meeting, we agreed to review the Assessment Principles, review the big "I.E., Assessment, and Strategic Planning at RC" document, and meet with Hans Zorn and Deb Selby to consult with them about Gen. Educ.
