2. Carol Cissel appointed secretary for 2000-2001 academic year.

3. Greg is working with Brian Clark, President of SGA, to appoint a student member to the council.

4. Our major task at hand is to assure that we are prepared for the SACS visitation, November 6-9.

5. Greg distributed copies of "Principles of Assessment at Roanoke College", the "Office of Assessment Annual Report for 1999-2000", a job description for the Director of Assessment, and a copy of the 3rd edition of the "Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment for Academic Majors and Programs at Roanoke College".

6. It was agreed that for the current academic year, the council would initiate a program of reviewing the assessment materials of approximately two academic departments and one administrative department each month. Greg will identify one program and will develop an initial list of questions for our consideration. Greg will email council members when the notebook and questions are ready for review. The notebook will be kept in the Assessment Office.

7. Greg reminded the council that we need to be very familiar with the Assessment website.

8. The following ideas were generated regarding ways to communicate to the students re: what assessment is all about--could have a statement regarding assessment in department handbooks; an article in the Brackety-Ack (Greg will draft a letter to the Brackety-Ack); Greg will talk with SGA.

9. Dan and Greg will present the NSSE survey results at the November faculty meeting.

10. Next meeting scheduled for Monday, October 2. Subsequent meetings will be: Wednesday, November 1 and Wednesday, November 29. All meetings will be held at 3:45 pm.
