With some input from Greg and Adrienne, Dan put together a list of 40 comparison schools and a survey. The survey was sent to the comparison schools mid-summer, with a requested return date in August. Thirty-one schools returned the surveys.

Adrienne examined the data from the returned surveys, contacted schools with incomplete or unclear responses (or got the information from their web sites), and compiled the data onto a spreadsheet. Schools that did not respond at all were not contacted.

This spreadsheet was distributed and discussed at this (11/12) meeting. Issues discussed included the differences between credit hour and unit schools, the likelihood that schools reported semester length with exams instead of without, the utility of additional measures that could be derived from the survey results (e.g., minutes/course), and the need for additional schools. It was decided that each committee member would check the semester length information for a group of schools and that Adrienne would get data on several additional unit schools. Next meeting set for shortly before Thanksgiving break.
