1. Present were Gail McKee, Kellie Bryan, Gary Hollis, Lynn Meyer,Bobbye Au, Bill Tenbrunsel, Mark LeJeune, Ben Huddle.
2. All Freshmen Event: Monday, April 10 from 12:40 to 1:20 in the Bast Center. $400 - $500 to rent and set up the sound system. Same table layout as February event. Speakers will be Paul Henrickson, with comments from Gail cKee. Also hope to have a rolling display of service sites. Maybe also quotes from freshmen on service? Students and advisors will also fill out the Assessment Survey.
3. Getting student feedback: Add some feedback questions on the Assessment Survey? Have Greg Weiss and/or Dan Larsen convene some focus groups offreshmen? We need to hear from and act on suggestions from freshmen. And respond. E-mail all freshmen regarding "We heard you, and we'remaking changes"?
4. Celebratory mugs: To be given to all freshmen, all Maroon Corps, freshmen advisors andother faculty, many staff, some key community leaders. "CCLS: We Made a Difference"? Include some service opportunities, the 7 co-curricular goals? Invite someone from each service site to attend the April event?(Probably not.) Send a reflection paper or two to each service site? (But becareful.)
5. Maroon Corps for next year: Mark Petersen, Gail, Bill and Ben working on responsibilities, etc. Really important to have a Maroon Corps leader meet with advisinggroups.
6. CCLS 201: Not passed by faculty. Why? Lack of enough voters present at the end of the facultymeeting. Some questions about supervision by advisors. Some antipathy by faculty still opposed to CCLS. We are obligated to provide some opportunity for students tocontinue. How do we make CCLS 201 feasible and easy to do? Have a designated CCLS 201 instructor? Who? Have a designated CCLS instructor for each division(science, humanities, social sciences, maybe business)? Provide incentives/rewards to CCLS 201 instructor(s)? What? Have advisor be the instructor? (Freshman advisor or majoradvisor, if declared.) CCLS 201 dead for next year? Maybe not. Gail to check withCharlene Kalinoski.
7. Next meeting: Next Friday, March 31 at 3:00.
