Minutes of the Meeting of
October 8, 1999

Present: Dr. Bobbye Au, Ms. Lynn Meyer, Dr. William Tenbrunsel, Dr. Gail McKee

Absent: Dr. Michael Heller, Dr. Ben Huddle, Dr. Virginia Stewart, Mr. Andrew Bansemer, Mr. Mark Petersen, Mr. Matt Laney, Ms. Melissa Thompson

The meeting was held in the Fowler Alumni House on Friday afternoon from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting was to follow-up on the visit with Dr. Paul Fidler and his suggestion that we develop outcomes for the CCLS program at the college and community levels.

The meeting was quickly called in order that a draft of outcome objectives for the college and advisors might be available to the Strategic Committee, which would be meeting on Monday, October 11, 1999. Ideas for outcomes were also invited by means of e-mail to those Committee members, who could not be present.

The Outcomes for the CCLS Program Related to the College and Advisors were as follows:

Draft of Objectives Related to the College:

To increase the number and type of organizations with which we have service relationships.

To have a larger percentage of students involved in service activities, which require a more consistent and dedicated effort (e.g. spending at least 10 hours per semester at one organization.)

To have a higher than average sophomore retention rate.

To involve more community members in the administration of the program.

Draft of Objectives Related to Academic Advisors:

To have an enhanced advisee/advisor relationship.

To provide a minimum of 5 hours of faculty development for each academic advisor.

To introduce faculty to the value of experiential education.

Respectfully Submitted,
Gail H. McKee
