The meeting began at 8:00 a.m.
Greg distributed the Calendar of Tasks for the Committee and discussed the remaining tasks for fall, spring, summer, and fall of next year.
Gail provided an update on the CCLS public calendar.
Dan described the National Survey of Student Engagement administered by NCHEMS. He reviewed the protocol being used for the survey and identified the specific items contained in the questionnaire. Committee members were enthusiastic about the survey, about administering it to freshmen and seniors (all or a sample to-be-determined), and about starting it this year so that we have baseline data with seniors for the next three years (before the CCLS cohort becomes seniors). Two concerns were expressed: (1) about the reporting of data (Dan will follow up on this question) and (2) the cost of participation and availability of funds to support it (Greg will follow up on this question).
Greg distributed a summary of suggestions for CCLS assessment from Paul Fidler, and committee members added suggestions in their notes. Gail reviewed the discussion of the CCLS Task Force from last Friday and provided a handout on their suggestions for objectives linked to the College and to participating advisors. It was agreed to form a subcommittee to develop further the list of objectives, and when that work has been discussed and approved by the Committee, to form a subcommittee on assessment mechanisms.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 a.m.
