Position Summary
|
|
|
The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking a Senior Network Administrator. The school maintains an onsite enterprise level datacenter and provides technology services to the school’s faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The infrastructure is architected upon the Microsoft (MS) Server suite of products.
|
|
|
Responsibilities
|
|
|
-Responsible for the administration of physical and virtual servers
-Participate in all system-related design and deployment projects, including software and back-office system upgrades, security issues and management system implementations.
-Work with technical staff and faculty to plan initiatives, provide enabling technical solutions. -Formulate and enforce change management policies regarding production changes. -Collaborate with team to assess future growth and capacity requirements. -Proactively research new and/or updated technologies. -Create and maintain documentation relating to Server configuration, share mapping, processes, and service records. -Provide guidance and work leadership to other technical staff and may participate in special projects as required. -Oversee budgeting for enterprise IT and enterprise software license management.
-Provide security expertise and ensure compliance with university information security policy
-Ensure high availability operation.

Qualifications
|
|
|
Proven expertise and experience with the following technologies:
· Microsoft Server Operating Systems (W2K3 & W2K8) Administration
In-depth knowledge/expertise in Active Directory, Group Policies and advanced scripting techniques · MS Exchange 2007
· Symantec Mail Security (gateway), MS Forefront on Exchange hub transport server, Antigen on outgoing SMTP server
· MS SharePoint 2007
· MS Office Communication Server
· MS ISA firewall
· MS VPN server
· MS IIS web application server
· MS Hyper-V Server (virtual hosts and clusters)
· File and print server
· Microsoft Data Protection Manager 2007
· Storage Area Network (SAN) – Dell Powervault 3000i SAN array
· Knowledge DELL server hardware and storage devices (RAID, SAN, Tape)
Must have excellent verbal, written, and customer service skills.

Minimun REquiremes for Consideration
|
|
|
· This position requires an undergraduate degree and equivalent work experience in related field.
· Minimum 5 years work experience in systems administration.
· Microsoft certifications preferred
|
|
