Definition General Public - G Job Type Hourly/Wage Pay Band 04 Job Description This position is located in Fishersville, VA at WWRC.
Provides life skills instruction to clients in the Life Skills Transition Program. Plans, prepares and delivers appropriate instruction through daily lesson plans provided. Incorporates technology into instructional delivery. Documents student records. Maintains inventory of daily instructional supplies. Communicates client progress to the Life Skills Transition Program Coordinator and the Life Skills Transition Program team, case managers and other center service providers. The selected individual will serve as van driver for field trips.
The usual schedule of work for this position is anticipated to be approximately 8:00 to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, but may vary depending on program needs. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of characteristics of disabilities and adaptations/ accommodations for persons with disabilities. Knowledge of resources available in the community which support independent living. Knowledge of positive classroom behavior management; basic teaching strategies, techniques and evaluation/assessment procedures. Demonstrated ability to make individual and group presentations. Demonstrated ability in observing, recording and interpreting performance and behavior. Demonstrated ability in development of instructional lesson plans based on background information and assessment data and in delivery of hands-on, practical instruction. Skill in use of Windows computer office or similar software and in basic data entry. Demonstrated ability to work with other instructors to develop instructional curriculum; implement instructional curriculum; provide individual and group instruction which enhances positive interactions and good social skills; communicate effectively (written and verbal); work within a team framework.
Virginia driver's license required by date of employment. Preferred Qualifications Prefer Bachelor's degree and experience teaching life skills.
Prefer applicants in possession of or eligible for a Virginia Department of Education Collegiate or Technical Professional License, preferably with endorsement in Special Education, or a Technical Professional License with endorsement in Vocational Education.
Applicants not eligible for regular licensure and teaching endorsement may apply. A combination of education, training and experience that would qualify for provisional licensure by the Virginia Department of Education will be considered.
