Recreation Center Aide - City of Roanoke Parks and Rec. - Roanoke, VA

Description

An exciting position for an energetic and creative recreation professional with a passion for helping others through youth development and community recreation. Will perform responsible work in leading and facilitating youth development and recreation programs and activities within the Department's After-School P.L.A.Y. program.

Requires knowledge of youth development and community activities including but not limited to; fitness and movement, art and photography, cooking, horticulture, nature study and crafts. Must have the ability to develop new and creative programs, build and maximize neighborhood and community relations, and utilize effective communication both orally and in writing. Minimum requirements include any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and one year experience in a day-care or after-school program setting as well as possession of a valid appropriate driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. The program is administered during the regular school year so the position is expected to work approximately 36 weeks/work approx. 15-20 hours per week.
