The Disability Determination Services Division is searching for a qualified Administrative & Office Specialist III position assigned as Case Control Reviewers in the Roanoke Regional Office.
Responsibilities: The Case Control reviews, interprets, and extracts information from the transmittal forms to enter receipt and clearance data on the DDS Claimant Information and Control System and the Social Security Administration’s National Disability Determination Services System. Reviews all Social Security disability claims folders including the application, the interview report, and the transmittal forms in order to determine the program, type of claim, and the next required action. Determines the number and type of claims to be assigned to disability analysts based on unit supervisory criteria. Also, queries Social Security Administration’s systems to determine if the Supplemental Security Income program is involved for continuing disability review claims. Prepares claim folder for distribution to disability analysts. Resolves discrepancies in data detected during the case assignment process by reviewing the claims folder, contacting the Social Security field office, or other office staff. Creates and files closed file folder during receipt process. After claims clearance, files decisional forms and worksheet in closed file folder for audit purposes. Prepares claim folder for appropriate distribution to SSA. Distributes weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports. Accesses the SSA’s systems to provide information, to request prior file location, and to request prior folders.
Requirements: Working knowledge of general office practices, procedures and office equipment. Demonstrated ability to interpret and appropriately apply position related policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to learn new practices, procedures, and equipment operations. Demonstrated ability to organize large volumes of paperwork and make independent work processing decisions. Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize position related computer application. Provides general information about the Medicaid Disability program to the public and other agency personnel. High school graduate or equivalent with applicable experience or training. Salary is negotiable above the minimum of the pay band based on qualifications. This is a sensitive position and the successful applicant will be fingerprinted and must pass a criminal background check.
