PAY AND BENEFITS
The entry-level salary starting at the GS7 grade level is $38,117. The starting salary depends upon GPA. This position has promotion potential to the GS-11 grade level with a salary of $56,411 to $66,747. DUTIES
The incumbent in this developmental position will perform duties and responsibilities similar to those contained in the full performance position of the Loan Specialist, GS-11, in the Loan Administration Section. This developmental position will perform the duties outlined in the target grade position description. The Loan Specialist works with very little supervision and is empowered to approve his/her own work. Provides financial counseling to obligors to assist them in proper handling of their financial affairs, and if necessary, arranges repayment agreement with holders to cure delinquent loans. Monitors loans as an oversight unit in the Loan Administration section to ensure the mortgage company is working with the homeowner to avoid foreclosure. Analyzes information and prepares recommendations for disposition of cases to approving officials. Processes unusual or exceptionally difficult cases that require action beyond the level of performance normally required of a journeyman. Provides technical guidance, expertise, and training to team members. The incumbent will have extensive contacts (both oral and written) with obligors, holders, attorneys, government officials, realtors, mortgage banking representatives, and other individuals.
QUALIFICATIONS
GS 7 - Superior academic achievement with major study in the fields of finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematic, banking and credit, law, real estate operation, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology.
GS-09: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related, with major study in finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position,
such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology.
Superior Academic Achievement is based on a GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (“B” or better) as recorded on the official transcript or as computed based on four years of education; Class Standing—upper third of graduating class in college, university, or major subdivision such as College of Liberal Arts or School of Business Administration; or Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society.
