Temporary Admissions Counselor

Description

Roanoke College has an immediate opening for a temporary full-time  Admissions Counselor. Position begins immediately and runs through July, 2014.  The successful candidate will join an experienced and successful admissions operation that has met or exceeded enrollment goals for over twenty years.

Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to, the following:  territory management/building relationships through correspondence, phone calls, emails, texting, social media and other electronic contact; assists in implementing admissions activities; interviews and counsels prospective student and their parents in order to ascertain their qualifications; and travels to visit secondary schools in order to inform school officials, counselors and students about the college.

The successful candidate must have a high level of energy and enthusiasm for his or her work and the ability to take the initiative, work as a team member and/or independently as situations require.  Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.  Understanding of the value of a liberal arts education is necessary.  Bachelor’s degree is required as well as computer capabilities.  One or more years of admissions related experience is preferred.  Send resume, cover letter and the names and contact information of three references by email to hr@roanoke.edu.  Please submit information directly to this email for consideration.
