The Kandinsky Trio has released its first recording -- on its fifteenth
anniversary. Featuring lesser-known works spanning 1892-1993, the disc
includes Trios in Foreign Lands, Rachmanioff's Trio Elegiaque,
Four Combinations for Three Instruments by Cowell, and Chen's
In Foreign Lands, among other works. The group (Violinist
Benedict Goodfriend, cellist Alan Weinstein, and pianist Elizabeth
Bachelder) also tackles an arrangement of the gypsy-style Russian Folk
song Gitane a Trois. This CD shows the virtuosity and versatility
of a veteran group.
