FINTEL LIBRARY CITATION GUIDE

 
 

These are examples of basic citations in  APA, CBE, Chicago style, and MLA formats.  Use these for all the fulltext databases Fintel Library subscribes to such as Electric Library, Expanded Academic, Factiva,  LexisNexis, Newsbank, PsycArticles, etc. 

Also given here are examples for fulltext books taken from NetLibrary, photos and visuals taken from Accunet/AP MultiMedia Archive, and a graphic taken from the Web.

FULLTEXT JOURNAL ARTICLES

APA STYLE
Author last name, initials.  (year).  Title.  Journal name volume(issue):pp-pp.  Retrieved from database name on the World Wide Web:  URL of database

Example:

Turner, C W.  (1946).  The Virginia Central Railroad at War, 1861-1865.  The Journal of Southern History 12(4):510-533.   Retrieved from the JSTOR database on the World Wide Web: http://www.jstor.org/

CBE STYLE - BASED ON NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MEDICINE FORMAT

Citation-Sequence method

Author last name, first initial.  Title of article.  Name of Journal year;vol:pages.  <URL>  Date of access.

Example:

Drolet, A, Morris, M. Rapport in conflict resolution: accounting for how face-to-face contact fosters mutual cooperation in mixed-motive conflicts. Journal of Experimental Social Psychology 2000;36:26-50. <http://www.idealibrary.com> Accessed 2002 October 10.

CBE STYLE

Name-Year method

Author last name, first initial.  Year.  Title of article.  Journal name vol:pages.  <URL>  Date of access.

Example:

CHICAGO STYLE
Author last name, first name initial.  month year.  "title of article."  Journal name vol. number(issue), pp.  Available:  database name.  Address:  URL of database

MLA STYLE
Author's last name, first name initial.  "Title of article."  Name of Journal vol.issue number (year): pp-pp.  Database name.  Name of library, college name, city, state of library.  Date of access.  <URL of database>
