Salem High School Girls Lacrosse

The 2002 Salem High School Girls Lacrosse Club earned its first winning season with a 7-4 record against teams from Roanoke, Blacksburg, Charlotte and Greensboro. Captains were Laila Jones, Katy Day and Kelly Sneed. Mike Myers of Salem High School was the coach. Clara Williamson was the leading goal scorer and Kelly Minton led the team in assists. Seniors Kaylea Algire, Katy Day and Kelly Minton are the first graduating class to have belonged to the Lacrosse Club for all four years of high school. The 2001 Salem High School Girls Lacrosse Club won 7 games in its second year of existence. The team's 7-8-1 record came against teams from Roanoke, Lynchburg, Blacksburg, Rockbridge, Charlotte and Greensboro. The team consisted of 33 girls, enough to support both "varsity" and "JV" games. Captains were Katie Bermudez, Laila Jones and Katy Day. Mike Myers of Salem High School was the coach. Laila Jones was the leading goal scorer, and Kelly Minton led the team in assists. 2001 Salem Lacrosse

The 2000 Salem High School Girls Lacrosse Club was the first in school history. Coached by Mike Myers of Salem High School and assisted by Dana Rigot of Roanoke College, the girls were competitive in every game, playing established teams from Roanoke, Charlotte, Chapel Hill and Greensboro. The highlight of the season was a thrilling 6-5 come-from-behind victory. After trailing 5-1 with 10 minutes left, the team rallied for 5 straight goals. In the final three minutes, Kelly Minton assisted on goals by Jennifer Stone, Katy Day and the game-winner by Kelly Sneed.
