The 2000 Pride of Salem championship band competed in festivals throughout Virginia and North Carolina. With 120 members, they won awards in the largest band classification. The 2000 show was titled "Sammy and Frank: A Thank You Note" and featured songs made famous by Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra. The show was well received, earning second place overall at JMU and third overall at Cary. There was much to celebrate after festivals: good friends, family and a drum line trophy for a brand new drum section that included converted saxophone player Kelly Minton.
