The Entrepreneur Fellows Program inspires innovation through education, offering you the opportunity to gain real world experience to help you achieve your goals. You'll be able to follow your entrepreneurial ambitions in a unique environment as part of your educational process at Roanoke College.
- You will have the option of taking courses relevant to the field of entrepreneurship, with emphasis on hands-on, experiential learning. The program will culminate with an entrepreneurship practicum that could result in an actual business startup.
- Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization at Roanoke College:
This vibrant entrepreneurship club is open to all students. As a Fellow, you will be required to be active in this club and its many entrepreneurial activities.
- Guest Speakers:
Fellows are required to attend all speaking events hosted by the Center for Leadership and Entrepreneurial Innovation (CLEI), and write and submit a reflection paper to the Center Director.
- The "Pitch" Business Contest Competition:
CLEI offers Fellows an opportunity to develop an original business concept and enter it into a competition, to be judged by a panel of outside reviewers. You will be required to submit a concept of your creation to this contest at least once during your fellowship.
- The Roanoke College Innovation Challenge (RCIC):
This unique summer program joins 16 students from diverse backgrounds and experiences to develop a comprehensive business plan for a new product innovation, from research to funding and design. As a Fellow, you will be given preference to participate in this program
- Main Street Maroons:
One goal of CLEI is to connect Roanoke College students with local businesses. You will be required to identify and connect with an approved local small business to help them with a business-oriented project (i.e., social media plan).
Roanoke College maintains a partnership with CoLab, a local business incubator. You will be required to attend one community-sponsored program by CoLab per academic semester (fall and spring).
Ideal candidates for the Entrepreneur Fellows Program have qualities that include:

Applying to the program begins with an online application, including this essay question: How do you believe an entrepreneurial approach can help you follow your passion?
If you are chosen as a finalist, you will interview with professors and mentors from the Center for Leadership and Entrepreneurial Innovation (CLEI) during a campus visit and receive a $1,000 scholarship per year.
Finalists will be interviewed on February 12 for the Winter Fellows Competition. Multiple fellowships will be awarded in each area of interest.
