Merit-based Competition (Step 2 of 4)

The Roanoke College Scholarship Competition was designed to recognize and reward students of superior academic and leadership ability. Students will have the opportunity to compete for the scholarships listed below. Selection of semi-finalists will be based on the scholarship application and academic record. Final recipients will be determined primarily on the performance during the on-campus competition which includes a writing session and personal interview. Academic records will also be given some consideration. Applicants for the Scholarship Competition must submit the admissions application and be accepted to the College prior to the competition.

David S. Bittle Scholarship: Tuition*
A.M. Bowman Scholarship: $7,000*
Christopher C. Baughman Scholarship: $4,500*
Julius Dreher Scholarship: $2,500*
John Morehead Scholarship: $1,000*

*The Bittle, Bowman, Baughman, Dreher and Morehead scholarships are awarded as a result of the Roanoke College Scholars Program. For more information on the different scholarships available, the application and the deadline for the program, applicants are encouraged to contact the Admissions Office.


Music/Choral Performance Scholarships: up to $2,500
Art Portfolio Scholarships: up to $2,500
Theatre Scholarships: up to $2,500

Fellowship Program: Pursue your goals in a field you love, and build a great resume with the experience you gain as a Fellow in one of these areas:  Research, Writing Center, Information Technology, Entrepreneurship, Service Leadership, Sustainability, Leadership, Geographic Information Systems or Communications and PR.
