Staffing Support Specialist

Overview

Campus Recreation is one of the largest student employers on campus with around 100 students working in the areas of Aquatics, Outdoor Adventures, Fitness, Sports, and the Game Room. As a member of the student leadership team, the Specialist is responsible for coordinating the department’s hiring processes, implementing training procedures, and managing staff logistics.

Hours

  • Approximately 8-10 hours per week
  • Typically during the day but may work evenings and/or weekends on rare occasions

Responsibilities

Hiring

  • Determine upcoming job vacancies and post open positions on MaroonNet
  • Screen applications and schedule interviews with selected candidates
  • Extend job offers to chosen candidates and notify candidates declined for the job
  • Prepare job placement forms for review by professional staff
  • Ensure newly hired staff complete all paperwork with Human Resources

Training

  • Review employment policies and recommend staff handbook edits
  • Develop Orientation & Onboarding session materials
  • Provide training on TimeTrax and Self-Service for new hires
  • Conduct training of new student supervisors on interview etiquette

Staff Management

  • Make corrections to the time clock when employees forget to clock in/out
  • Track accountability points system and make recommendations for pay raises
  • Communicate professional development opportunities to student staff
  • Distribute and encourage participation in the staff satisfaction survey
  • Schedule and conduct exit interviews with graduating seniors

Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled student in good standing
  • Academic study with a concentration in Human Resources preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills and leadership ability
