ENVI Faculty Opening

The Environmental Studies Program is hiring for a new tenure track line

Tenure Track Faculty & Chair, Environmental Studies - Roanoke College announces a new tenure track line in our growing Environmental Studies Program.  The initial appointment rank is open. This individual will chair our program, so previous faculty experience is necessary.  We seek an individual with strong interdisciplinary experience in environmental studies who can work collaboratively to help us build on current strengths, but also provide leadership as we raise the program's visibility both on campus and to external constituencies. A PhD and academic experience is required; additional experience in business, policy, or governmental sectors is valued.  Interdisciplinary specialties from across the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences are welcomed. A record of excellent teaching and active research are required. Teaching duties will include courses in environmental studies and general education appropriate to the candidate's expertise, with a reduced load for program administration. The appointment will begin August 2014.

Our growing interdisciplinary program offers a BS in Environmental Studies with tracks in Environmental Science and Environment & Society. Our newly-designated environmental campus is located within an 800+-acre forested watershed with access to upland forest, stream, and riparian systems.  To learn more about our program, visit www.roanoke.edu/environmentalstudies.
