Block Housing Information
Block Housing is a part of room selection that allows groups of 4-8 students to select adjacent or adjoining rooms, allowing for friends to assure they will live next to each other.
Who can participate?
All students who are not graduating in May, commuting, have not been released off campus, or who have signed a roster to live in one of our Intentional Living Communities can take part in Block Housing. Groups could include members of a campus organization, current residents on a floor who want to continue the strong bonds they have already created, friends from different halls who want to live closer together, or other micro-communities students want to create.
How do you apply?
Applications are available online through a survey link all eligible students will be emailed. Only one application per group is needed.
Where is Block Housing located and how are rooms chosen?
Block Housing is not isolated to any particular building or floor. There is no guarantee that a particular block of rooms will be available when the groups select. If a group's preferred spaces are not available during the selection time, spaces will need to be selected by group members during General Housing Selection. Groups are ordered by those who have the member with the most units earned.
What if a member(s) of our group or the entire group changes its mind and no longer wants to do Block Housing?
If prior to selecting rooms your group or a member/members of your group no longer wants to participate in Block Housing, contact our office to adjust or cancel your Block Housing application. Students may also opt out if there are no blocks of rooms available that they are interested in during the selection event. If students or groups withdraw from Block Housing they may then participate in General Housing Selection.
If blocks are chosen and a student withdraws from a block, the group will be contacted and have 2 business days to fill the space. If they are unable to fill the vacancy it will be available for General Housing Selection.
If the block is chosen, it is prior to General Housing Selection, and the student who withdraws is the member with the highest number of units the entire block will be cancelled and its members will participate in the General Housing Selection process.
