Historical Walk/Tour of Roanoke College's Neighborhood
8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Join The David F. Bittle College Historian Dr. Mark Miller and former Salem Museum Director John Long for an early morning walk through the historic neighborhood surrounding the College and a tour of Main Street, Salem.  All ages are invited. Meet on the Luther Plaza at the entrance to the Cregger Center on High Street.

    For all hikes, please wear comfortable shoes, preferably hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes. Water and a small snack will be provided.

Dreams evolve and plans change.  The transition from high school to college student can bring many unknowns and allows for discovery of various interests and talents.  Our Career and Professional Development Advisor will share the strategy for reaching out to freshmen and sophomores in class, workshops, and individually to foster the skills needed to support this growth.  Career Services will also address how awareness and exploration are the first steps in career development.

The transition from college student to young professional is filled with many choices and challenges.  Career Services is committed to helping students regardless of academic year determine interests, discover talents and prepare for their next chapter.  This session will provide tips on how students should best utilize the Career Services office, the services offered, and the resources provided.  The session will also advise parents on how they can best assist their student during this time of transition.

Historic Monterey House behind the Scenes Tour

Join the History Department for a special behind the scenes look at the College's Monterey complex.  Visit the newly renovated Monterey main house and see the just completed restoration of The Quarters, a mid-nineteenth century slave dwelling just behind.   The Clay Street House down the hill will also welcome visitors to its Victorian era furnishings.
