The Magic of Chemistry

Amazing demonstrations to delight the whole family.  Fantastic colors, illusions and explosions!  Be entertained, learn a little chemistry and enjoy our liquid nitrogen ice cream (Saturday Afternoon show only).  Sponsored by the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society and the Chemistry Department.

Roanoke College Scholarships & Fellowship Information Session

All families, students, faculty, & staff are welcome to join us on the Back Quad for an evening of fun! Cost: $12 per adult, $5.00 per child 5-10, & no charge for children 4 & under. Students, faculty, & staff show your Maroon Card. For your convenience, meal tickets can also be picked up from the tent on the Back Quad from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. (Students, faculty, and staff must show their Maroon Cards at FOTQ).

Roanoke College Showcase of Research and Creativity

Students from all disciplines will be showcasing their research and creative works. Please roam throughout Fintel Library and talk to our students while learning more about opportunities such as internships, service-learning, research, creative works, and study away experiences.

Trivia Trivia Trivia!

Join us for some light-hearted and fun competition with all the regular trivia categories. Parents, create a team and challenge your students to see who knows the most! Or go head-to-head with other families for a chance to win some Maroon gear and prizes! Come for a round or two or stay the hour. Sponsored by the Religion & Philosophy Department

Generations of families share a special connection to Roanoke College. Legacy families are students and alumni whose families, including parents, grandparents, and/or siblings, attended or currently attend Roanoke College.  These families are invited to join us for a reception and photo shoot.

For all hikes, please wear comfortable shoes, preferably hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes. Water and a small snack will be provided.

Dreams evolve and plans change.  The transition from high school to college student can bring many unknowns and allows for discovery of various interests and talents.  Join us to hear about our newly reimagined PLACE, the hub for campus’ Purpose, Life and Career Exploration.  Our Career and Professional Development Advisor will share the strategy for reaching out to freshmen and sophomores in class, workshops, and individually to foster the skills needed to support this growth.

Four years as an undergraduate passes in the blink of an eye, and the transition from college student to young professional can feel unimaginable for an upcoming graduate.  Please join us to hear about our newly reimagined PLACE, the hub for campus’s Purpose, Life and Career Exploration.  PLACE staff (formerly Career Services) is committed to helping students regardless of their academic year prepare for the next chapter as they define interests and talents as related to possible internships and career tracks.  This session is designed for parents (and students) who want to feel more confident about preparing for and navigating through these next steps to prepare for life after Roanoke College.  Staff will outline how students can best utilize PLACE for graduate school and professional life preparedness.  This session will also advise parents on how they can best assist their student during this time of transition.
