Meet the Coach
Based at Cherry Hill Farm in Lexington, Virginia Coach Carolyn Williams offers individualized instruction to riders of all levels, from beginners to those showing at the local, state or national levels. Carolyn is a long time trainer and horsewoman who trained under top hunter riders Tommy and Louise Serio. Carolyn is a graduate of Southern Seminary College where she studied Animal Science and Equine Studies and then went on to work as an Equine Riding Instructor and assistant Stable Manager for the well-respected College. During her 11 years as an Equine Instructor, the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) team posted 8 National Championships. Carolyn also coached the Washington and Lee University's IHSA and Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) teams to a number of team championships and individual wins during her 5 years as Head Coach. In 2011 Carolyn coached the Stone Bridge High School IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) Team to a Reserve National Championship Title and in 2012 qualified and coached BOTH the High School and Middle School IEA Teams at the National Competition in Syracuse, NY. Carolyn is currently in her fifth year as Head Coach of the Roanoke College IHSA Team and enjoys coaching and preparing students of all levels to enter the Collegiate Competition of Riding. Carolyn who is also an Equine Feed Specialist, brings experience, passion and commitment to her lessons as well as the show ring.
